About Us

We saw a need for better company secretary and corporate governance advisory services in Australia. We looked at other corporate governance consultants and found stifling, one-size-fits-all approaches that smothered innovation … And it made us want to set the ideas free.

In a world of chaotic and constant change, we value innovation. Good governance should never be a barrier to pioneering thinking. On the contrary – we think that building a governance culture will support and facilitate innovation and experimentation.

Experience, knowledge and intuition

We are experienced professionals who have worked with all sorts of organisations, from big corporates to small not-for-profits and quirky research institutes. We understand how organisations tick, and we’ll work alongside you to understand what yours needs to flourish.

Full-time care without a full-time role

We recognise that smaller organisations, and not-for-profits, may not have the resources or requirement for a full-time or in-house governance role. We work in the same way as your non-executive directors: we take on the legal responsibilities of the role but we aren’t in the business on a day-to-day basis.

This doesn’t mean we work ‘at arm’s length’, though. We genuinely care about achieving great things together, and we think you can’t do that as an outsider. We prefer to get our hands dirty in the trenches beside you, in a lasting partnership. We’ll find the BGS consultant who is a perfect cultural fit for your organisation, and who will bring all the benefits of our collective experience, including new ideas for systems, processes and frameworks that will work for you.

Small business. Big care factor

BGS is family owned, which means we care about taking care of things for the future. We believe in long-term relationships and making sure our clients get the best outcomes possible. We’ll work with you as if we were part of your business. For everyone at BGS, business is personal. We’ll return your calls and emails. We don’t charge in 15min blocks.

Our Team

The BGS team gives you a rare and formidable combination of skills and expertise. We’ve sat around boardroom tables as directors and senior executives. We are well qualified in corporate governance. We have hands-on experience in all sorts of organisations – from large corporates to start-ups and not-for-profits and everything in between. We love what we do and we are committed to our clients. Tap into the BGS hive mind to find your ultimate governance solution.

Amanda’s right hand, Deb, has just the right combination of logic, intuition and tenacity.
